Although settlement is now widespread throughout most of the Rockies, population is concentrated in urban areas generally located at the base of mountains, along railways, or in river valleys.Unlike some national parks, there are no overnight accommodations in Rocky Mountain National Park. There are many lodging options in the nearby communities of Estes Park and Grand Lake.Indigenous people have lived and traveled in this region for thousands of years. Is it possible to live in the mountains
Despite these challenges, people around the world have worked and lived in mountainous areas for centuries. Often, they make their living farming, fishing, or herding.

You need a permit to camp overnight in the backcountry, and you can reserve a permit in advance online at Recreation.gov. At Rocky Mountain National Park, you cannot walk-in, fax or call in permit requests. On the east side, the backcountry office is adjacent to the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center.
There is Only Camping Inside the Park
There is no lodging in Rocky Mountain National Park, but there are five campgrounds to choose from. The Aspen Glen, Glacier Basin, Longs Peak and Moraine Park campgrounds are all on the park's east side.

Note that these studies were done decades ago. We've known the health advantages of high altitude for a long time.

Only the black bear is known to exist in Rocky Mountain National Park. Its northern cousin, the grizzly bear, is no longer found in Colorado. Black bears make a point to avoid humans, so they are not often seen. Despite their bulky size, bears climb trees very well.
Can I carry a gun in Rocky Mountain National Park : Open carry of handguns and rifles, and transport of the same in vehicles, is permitted. Concealed carry is allowed pursuant to a legal Colorado concealed carry permit and applicable state reciprocity laws.
