Is British Museum different to Natural History Museum?
The government agreed to purchase Sloane's collection and then built the British Museum so these items could be displayed to the public. The Museum remained part of the British Museum until 1963, when a separate board of trustees was appointed, but it wasn't officially renamed the Natural History Museum until 1992.The British Museum is huge and you won't be able to do it all in one visit. I would say it is a must see, but unless they have an interest in ancient history, it may be a wasted trip. The Natural History museum is arguably more 'kid friendly' with its Dinosaur exhibits. These are two totally different museums in London. The National Gallery is an art museum and the British Museum is more an antiquities museum. Both are excellent and well worth the time, but you are more likely to find the mosaics at the British Museum.

What is so special about the British Museum : The first national public museum of the world. The British Museum is unique in bringing together under one roof the cultures of the world, spanning continents and oceans. Is Natural History Museum London worth visiting

This is undoubtedly one of the greatest museums in UK and a real must-see in London. Dinosaurs, volcanoes, minerals, animals, earthquakes, there is all of this and much more. On top of that the building itself is wonderful. Natural History Museum is a real gem, worth seeing.

Which is better Victoria and Albert or British Museum : I love both the British Museum and the V & A, however I find that the Brit concentrates mostly on archeological relics and the V & A concentrates on more recent history – say the past 500 years or so – with some delightful interiors, costumes, and pottery/ceramics etc., though there is an overlap.
