Conformité Européenne
The CE mark means that the manufacturer takes responsibility for the compliance of a product with all applicable European health, safety, performance and environmental requirements. CE stands for "Conformité Européenne", the French for European conformity. The CE marking (an acronym for the French “Conformite Europeenne”) certifies that a product has met EU health, safety, and environmental requirements, which ensure consumer safety. However, the CE mark does not apply in the United States, and electronic devices that have received CE certification cannot legally enter the United States market without also passing testing for US electrical compliance regulations. The United States has its own regulatory framework for electronic devices.
Do I need CE certification : CE marking is only obligatory for products for which EU specifications exist and require the affixing of CE marking. Some products are subject to several EU requirements at the same time. You must make sure that your product complies with all the relevant requirements before affixing the CE marking to it.

Is CE still used : Most style guides do not express a preference for one system, although BC/AD still prevails in most journalistic contexts. Conversely, academic and scientific texts tend to use BCE/CE. Since there are compelling arguments for each system and both are in regular use, we do not recommend one over the other.
Many consumer goods marketed in the EU, such as toys and electrical appliances, must have CE marking. CE marking indicates that the product meets certain statutory requirements connected with things like safety, health and the environment. It can be recognised by the letters 'CE'.

Common Era
CE stands for “Common Era.” It refers to the same years as AD does, just in a more secular way. The year 2022 CE is the same year as 2022 AD. The Gregorian calendar, which is the dating system we use to measure years today, was created by a pope of the Catholic Church.
From 1 January 2021, the UKCA mark will start to replace the CE mark for goods sold within Great Britain. The CE mark will continue to be required for goods sold in Northern Ireland. Units already in the supply chain at the time the new rules come into effect can continue to be sold under the old rules.
Is CE replaced by AD : Common Era and Before the Common Era are alternatives to the original Anno Domini (AD) and Before Christ (BC) notations used for the same calendar era. The two notation systems are numerically equivalent: "2024 CE" and "AD 2024" each describe the current year; "400 BCE" and "400 BC" are the same year.
Can I use a CE mark if I don’t sell in the EU : a CE mark is a ultimate proof of complying with European Regulations. It can be also used for 'marketing' purposes – companies can obtain CE mark and not be selling to the EU. Having a CE mark affixed on the product is a sign of top-quality and meeting all necessary safety requirements.
